Amateur Television at GRARA and Beyond

K8DMR ATV Example Screen

This page is dedicated to information about Amateur Radio Television (ATV) and it's various components including our ATV Repeater, k8DMR/R, and associated internet streaming video. This area is sure to grow as our club expertise grows.

Included here is a listing of ATV repeaters and simplex stations streaming video and audio on the web and a general list of interesting ATV websites. With our Wi-Fi connection at the Red-X we could do the same here in Grand Rapids for the K8DMR-ATV repeater. Then anyone with a computer could watch our weekly West Michigan ATV net on Thursday evenings (9 P.M.) I’ll work on that this summer. Anyone who would like to help with this please contact me.    ..... Ron K8DMR

Did you know? The Amateur Television Columbus OHIO (ATCO) group has over 30 members and the only U.S. DTV repeater on 23 cm as well as 70 cm and 23 cm analog repeaters.

ATN-CA Streaming Video Now on the world-wide British Amateur Television Company

The President of ATN-CA Don, KE6BXT informs us that his BATC stream is on 24/7. The BATC service is dedicated to Amateur Radio and Television. Quality is far superior to Camstreams. So far most of the streaming ATV signals are from European repeaters other than the CA ATV repeaters.

To best log on to Don’s BATC.TV Stream go to www.batc.tv , when the home page opens look for a button on the left column titled Members Streams and click on it. Then look for a drop down tab with the title Trevors Stream and click on the drop down tab. Then find KE6BXT's call and click on it and then click on watch. You will be watching the ATN-CA Repeaters, 24/7.

Also the Midwest evening ATV HF net is on 1903 KHz at 9:45 Eastern every night. The morning net continues to meet on 3930 kHz at 7:45 AM to 8:30 AM every day.

LISTEN-IN ON MIDWEST ATV ACTIVITY EVERY MORNING ON HF!

Even if you don’t have ATV Tx capability why not try listening-in on some of the liaison activity on HF radio?

Every morning, 7 days a week from about 7:45 A.M. to 8:30 A.M. a Midwest ATV net is on 3930 KHz. There ATV stations in KY, OH, IN, IL, MO and MI (including myself K8DMR) communicate while beaming our 70 cm and 23 cm (and in sometimes even 10 GHz) video signals at each other. To be sure most of the video is on 70 cm and specifically on 439.25 MHz the K8DMR ATV repeater input frequency. However being weak signals, except during a very strong inversion, these signals do not bring up our ATV repeater so you will have to use a good 70 cm beam and look directly on 439.25 cable ch 60 (or 436 MHz partially into cable ch 59 in the case of W9ZIH near Chicago) to see anything off the air. Fortunately KA9UVY, Bob, in Southern IL and WB8LGA, Charlie, near Dayton stream the received video at their QTHs on CAMSTREAMS (see the list of CAMSTREAMS ATV websites) so you can watch the video they see even without an Rx capability.

In the evening we frequently use 1995 kHz and 3720 KHz (+- 5 kHz) for liaison although not every day. The 3930 AM morning net is every day including weekends.

Feel free to join in the fun.
